Exercise ball Review
Exercise ball is a ball which is filled with air, it is made out of rubber or other materials, there are different sizes for different people.
A 65 centimeter ball is for 5 feet, 4 inches to 6 feet tall. It is great for variety of functions, from a chair to exercise equipment. The design of exercise ball gives the opportunity to do low-impact exercises on abs and lower body, strengthening and toning.
It has been proven time and time again that exercising on an unstable surface is harder for your muscles, because they have to keep up the balance at the same time. This of course goes for exercising abs as well; on exercise ball you get the added benefit of increased range of motion as well when doing crunches. One other positive thing about exercise ball is that many people find crunches on an exercise ball much more comfortable than on other surfaces.
Using exercise ball when doing ab exercises, should be compared to doing exercises on the floor. Using weights with exercise ball to get more efficient exercising isn't easy and with big weights it is impossible, but just doing the regular crunches and exercises is more effective on ball than on floor. Why is it more effective, when doing ab exercises on ball your abs, lower back and core do work to keep your upper body stable on the ball. When you crunch on an exercise ball, the ball slightly moves under you and your muscles again have to do work to keep your upper body in balance.
Exercise ball is definitely a nice addition to anyone's exercise equipment regime; the main benefit comes from the unstable surface, which makes the exercises harder. This is at the same time the main drawback, if you want to get real strength to your abdominal muscles you need to use weights as a resistance. When you start to need really big weights, it comes simply too hard to stay on the exercise ball. But this problem is only for those who have been lifting weights for a while, so for beginners and intermediate exercises, a cheap and at the same time good buy, definitely!
